{"id":952926,"date":"2026-11-05T01:18:10","date_gmt":"2026-11-05T01:18:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/952926\/"},"modified":"2026-11-05T01:18:10","modified_gmt":"2026-11-05T01:18:10","slug":"wild-interstate-police-chase-spans-more-than-100km-through-queensland-and-new-south-wales-before-halting-in-casino","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/952926\/","title":{"rendered":"Wild interstate police chase spans more than 100km through Queensland and New South Wales before halting in Casino"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A teenager has been charged after a police chase spanning more than 100km through Queensland and New South Wales, which eventually came to an end with road spikes.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>About 4.30pm on Wednesday, Queensland Police sent a warning to their interstate counterparts that a vehicle being tracked by PolAir, the helicopter support unit, was heading for the New South Wales border.<\/p>\n<p>Police in Queensland were tracking the vehicle over its alleged involvement in an incident in Brisbane.<\/p>\n<p>Officers with Richmond Police District spotted the vehicle heading south in Woodenbong, about 10km from the New South Wales-Queensland border.<\/p>\n<p>The vehicle, however, made a T-turn and headed back up towards the Queensland border.<\/p>\n<p>When police spotted the vehicle again in Loadstone, it allegedly refused to stop as directed, sparking a police pursuit.<\/p>\n<p>Officers pursued the car south for several kilometres, through townships including Wiangaree and Kyogle.<\/p>\n<p>On two occasions during the pursuit, road spikes were successfully deployed.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The vehicle continued through Casino, before finally coming to a halt on Rosewood Avenue.<\/p>\n<p>The 19-year-old driver was arrested along with his two passengers, a 20-year-old woman and a 17-year-old girl.<\/p>\n<p>Both passengers have since been released pending further inquiries.<\/p>\n<p>The 19-year-old driver, however, was taken to Casino Police Station and charged with various charges.<\/p>\n<p>The charges include failing to stop during a police pursuit driving dangerously, driving while holding a licence that expired within the last two years and using an offensive weapon to prevent lawful detention.<\/p>\n<p>He has also been charged with exceeding the speed limit by more than 45 km\/h while driving a Class A motor vehicle, having goods in personal custody suspected of being stolen and providing a false name or home address as a driver or rider.<\/p>\n<p>The driver was refused bail to appear before Bail Division Court 1 on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Read related topics:<a class=\"topic_tag\" href=\"https:\/\/www.news24.com.au\/topics\/police-courts\" data-tgev-container=\"story-topic-links\" data-tgev-label=\"Police &amp;
