The recriminations within Donald Trump party have escalated a day after it suffered a historic wipeout in America\u2019s midterm elections.<\/p>\n
Secretary of Defence Pete Hegseth (he calls himself the \u201cSecretary of War\u201d) has reportedly emerged as a potential scapegoat for the results.<\/p>\n
Mr Hegseth was barely confirmed by the Senate in the first place, and his role overseeing the war against Iran – which is still dragging on many, many months after he claimed victory – has done little to bolster his popularity.<\/p>\n
There was actually speculation before the midterms that Mr Hegseth could be nudged out of the job and appointed as a senator. A promotion sideways, essentially.<\/p>\n
