{"id":95753,"date":"2025-08-25T23:07:07","date_gmt":"2025-08-25T23:07:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/95753\/"},"modified":"2025-08-25T23:07:07","modified_gmt":"2025-08-25T23:07:07","slug":"tvline-acquired-by-static-media","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/95753\/","title":{"rendered":"TVLine Acquired by Static Media"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/t\/penske-media-corp\/\" id=\"auto-tag_penske-media-corp\" data-tag=\"penske-media-corp\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Penske Media Corp.<\/a> has sold <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/t\/tvline\/\" id=\"auto-tag_tvline\" data-tag=\"tvline\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">TVLine<\/a>, the 15-year-old digital news platform focused on TV news, interviews and reviews, to digital media company <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/t\/static-media\/\" id=\"auto-tag_static-media\" data-tag=\"static-media\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Static Media<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tFinancial terms of the deal are not being disclosed. PMC, which is the parent company of Variety, launched TVLine in January 2011. Kimberly Roots will remain with TVLine as Editor in Chief after the transaction, as will the remaining staff. Matt Webb Mitovich, a TVLine veteran who most recently served as chief content officer, will step down. Mitovich had been with the site since its inception.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe site was founded by Michael Ausiello, formerly a columnist for Entertainment Weekly and a senior writer at TV Guide. Since its inception, TVLine has pledged to offer \u201ca singular, unwavering focus: to deliver a concentrated stream of breaking TV news, original previews and insightful recaps\/reviews.\u201d Roots joined TVLine in 2012 and rose through the ranks as a manager, writer and editor. She was upped to the EIC post in April 2024.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tPMC, which is the parent company of Variety, earlier this year also sold BGR (aka Boy Genius Report), a tech and science publication it had acquired in 2010, to Static Media. It closed a deal to buy auto brand Jalopnik from G\/O Media in early 2025. The company says it has an aggregate audience of more than 220 million monthly unique visitors.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tIn April 2023, Novacap, a Canadian private-equity firm, <a href=\"https:\/\/novacapcorp.com\/news\/template-5\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">announced<\/a> a major investment in Static Media, which it described as an acquisition by Novacap\u2019s TMT VI fund. Previous investors in Static Media included billionaire Mark Cuban.
