As is often the case, this season\u2019s theme reflects not just the state of South Carolina women\u2019s basketball but that of the game overall as the sport continues to expand its reach.<\/p>\n<p>For South Carolina, the theme nods to some core values of the program. A player\u2019s value to a team is not measured just by her stat line but also by a myriad of other ways she elevates her team. Championships and accolades are not valuable just because of trophies in a case but also because they lift up a university, a city, a state. It is notable for every person who has been part of building it into the national power it has become. The graphic of the theme celebrates that legacy by including each year\u2019s theme and the jersey\u00a0number of every player in the Staley era, all of which has contributed to the limitless future of the game of women\u2019s basketball.<\/p>\n<p>Under Staley, South Carolina women\u2019s basketball has shared a new public theme each season since 2012-13, when it began with Sacrifice. Each year\u2019s theme is grounded in something that speaks to the team\u2019s aspirations or to what is happening in the world around them. Following Sacrifice, the themes have been: Be the Change (2013-14), one.
