Heading into the second half of the 2025 F1 season, a piece of history is within McLaren’s grasp.<\/p>\n
From the 14 races thus far, Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris have 11 wins and 24 podiums, and a total of 559 points.<\/p>\n
They are on course to win the constructors’ title in Azerbaijan in just three races’ time, but another goal is a possibility.<\/p>\n
So dominant has been the MCL39 that the possibility of becoming the first F1 team to score 1,000 points in a season is strong.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Across the final 10 races, three of which are Sprints, there are a total of 475 points left up for grabs.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The magical 1,000-point mark minus McLaren’s current tally of 559 means they are 441 points away, meaning Piastri and Norris must not drop more than 34 points in the remainder of the campaign.\u00a0<\/p>\n
For comparison, they’ve dropped 33 points since a one-three finish in Monaco, seven races ago.<\/p>\n
The last four, since the Austrian GP, have been one-two finishes.\u00a0<\/p>\n
But if McLaren falls short of 1,000 points, it can snatch Red Bull’s all-time record of 860 points set in a single season in 2023. To do that, McLaren requires 302 points from the remaining races.<\/p>\n
