A Victorian politician has had the image of a vanilla slice permanently tattooed onto her hip.<\/p>\n
Nationals Member for Mildura Jade Benham vowed to get the tattoo during a vanilla slice eating contest in Merbein, in Victoria’s north-west.<\/p>\n
She quipped that maybe she should get a tattoo as penance after failing to come first, and within the next few hours, she did just that.<\/p>\n
“I immediately thought that I need to have some sort of a filter between my brain and my mouth at times, and that was one of those times,” Ms Benham said.<\/p>\n
“It was great, I don’t regret it at all.”<\/p>\n
It is not the National Party politician’s first tattoo, as she has several of her children’s drawings inked on her.<\/p>\n
This is, however, her first sweet treat tattoo, and she was very deliberate about its placement.<\/p>\n
“On my hip, because vanilla slice \u2014 a moment on the lips, a lifetime on the hips,” Ms Benham said.<\/p>\n
She said the act had perhaps shocked some of her colleagues within the Victorian National Party, who were “far too sophisticated” to do such a thing themselves.<\/p>\n

Walsh a clean-skin<\/p>\n
Peter Walsh, representing the neighbouring electorate of Murray Plains, said he had never considered getting a tattoo in support of a local business or event during his political career.<\/p>\n
“I’m not a tattoo person, so good luck to Jade on doing what she’s doing to promote things, which she has done in the past,” Mr Walsh said.<\/p>\n
“I haven’t got a tattoo and I’m not the muscly young person you need to be to have a tattoo.<\/p>\n
“It’s never been a consideration in my whole life.”<\/p>\n
Other Nationals politicians, including Member for Lowan Emma Kealy, Victorian Nationals leader Danny O’Brien and Federal Member for Mallee Anne Webster were asked if they would ever consider getting a tattoo, what it would be, and where they would get it.<\/p>\n
