The Hollywood actor and rapper<\/a> kicked off the UK leg of his Based on a True Story tour<\/a> in Scarborough on Sunday (24 August), in support of his recent album of the same name<\/a>.<\/p>\n Ahead of the concerts, a video was shared from his official YouTube channel,<\/a> titled: \u201cMy favourite part of tour is seeing you all up close. Thank you for seeing me too.\u201d<\/p>\n In the past week, the clip has been gaining attention as viewers claim it makes heavy use of AI for footage that seemingly shows his adoring fans crying and waving homemade signs. <\/p>\n Some shots show audience members with their faces appearing blurred or distorted, while others seem to have oddly shaped hands, some of which appear to have six fingers.<\/p>\n Another shot shows a man\u2019s knuckle appear to blur along with his sign, which reads: \u201c\u2018You Can Make It\u2019 helped me survive cancer. THX Will.\u201d<\/p>\n Meanwhile, the woman in front of him is seemingly holding his hand, but the headband of the woman behind her is somehow over her wrist. <\/p>\n open image in gallery<\/p>\n A woman’s headband seems to go over the wrist of the woman in front, while her own hand morphs into the man holding up a sign (YouTube\/Will Smith)<\/p>\n The Independent has contacted Smith\u2019s representatives for comment. <\/p>\n Fans in the comments section of the YouTube video have called out the Fresh Prince of Bel Air star for showing what they branded a \u201cfake AI crowd\u201d. <\/p>\n \u201cImagine being this rich and famous and having to use AI footage of crowds\u2026 Tragic, man,\u201d one critic said. <\/p>\n Another wrote: \u201cSo not only is this an abomination to look at because it\u2019s low quality phone footage that\u2019s been heavily AI upscaled, but there\u2019s also in-between scenes that are clearly AI-generated,\u201d another said, citing timestamps where the alleged inconsistencies occurred. <\/p>\n \u201cVideographers exist, why abandon quality work for this degenerative slop?\u201d they questioned.<\/p>\n One fan remarked: \u201cI don’t want to be that guy but: You can see many people in the crowd having six fingers or more, eyes smudged, faces are distorted. You can\u2019t be this ignorant bruh c\u2019mon it\u2019s embarrassing.\u201d<\/p>\n AI is a contentious topic in the music industry, with many artists calling for better protections of their work, and others being called out for using it themselves. <\/p>\n Earlier this month, English rocker Rod Stewart<\/a> was criticised for what many perceived to be a \u201cdisrespectful\u201d tribute to late Black Sabbath frontman Ozzy Osbourne<\/a> during one of his shows.<\/p>\n The 80-year-old \u201cMaggie May\u201d singer seemingly dedicated his 1988 song \u201cForever Young\u201d<\/a> to Osbourne, who died in July aged 76. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n Viral footage from his show in Georgia on 1 August showed a video sequence airing on the big screen, with an AI-generated Osbourne posing for selfies with other late stars <\/a>including Tina Turner, Prince, Bob Marley, Michael Jackson and Kurt Cobain. <\/p>\n![\"A](\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/will-smith-jpg.png\")
