{"id":97634,"date":"2025-08-26T17:31:07","date_gmt":"2025-08-26T17:31:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/97634\/"},"modified":"2025-08-26T17:31:07","modified_gmt":"2025-08-26T17:31:07","slug":"cadillac-casts-assertive-stance-on-approach-to-christian-horner-over-potential-f1-role","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/97634\/","title":{"rendered":"Cadillac casts assertive stance on approach to Christian Horner over potential F1 role"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorsportweek.com\/tag\/cadillac\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Cadillac<\/a> has squashed speculation that the nascent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motorsportweek.com\/series\/single-seater\/formula-1\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Formula 1 <\/a>team could represent a possible avenue for axed Red Bull boss Christian Horner to return to the series.<\/p>\n<p>Horner\u2019s decorated two-decade reign leading Red Bull was brought to an abrupt end last month as the organisation\u2019s shareholders elected to remove him mid-season.<\/p>\n<p>The Briton\u2019s dismissal came as upheaval behind the scenes over the last 18 months has coincided with Red Bull experiencing an alarming decline in competitiveness.<\/p>\n<p>Horner has been backed to make a comeback, though, with Cadillac\u2019s impending debut as F1\u2019s 11th team in 2026 prompting it to be named as a potential destination.<\/p>\n<p>But TWG Motorsport boss Dan Towriss has cast an assertive response to such claims, insisting that he has complete faith in current Team Principal Graeme Lowdon.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere have been no talks with Christian Horner, no plans to do that,\u201d Towriss said. \u201cSo I\u2019d like to officially shut down that rumour.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur support, belief, backing is 100 per cent in Graeme Lowden.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/au\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/Graeme-Lowdon-Cadillac-F1-2025-Silverstone-1024x576.webp.webp\" alt=\"Graeme Lowdon emphasizes team-first mindset amid Cadillac driver talks\" class=\"wp-image-216565\"  \/>Graeme Lowdon is Cadillac\u2019s debut Team Principal<\/p>\n<p>Towriss\u2019 stance comes as Cadillac has announced Sergio Perez, Horner\u2019s ex-driver at Red Bull, will race alongside Valtteri Bottas in the team\u2019s inaugural F1 campaign.<\/p>\n<p>Lowdon has been entrusted to oversee the experienced duo, who have made over 500 starts between them and have achieved multiple wins with title-winning teams.<\/p>\n<p>Having been a consultant to the original Andretti-led venture, Lowdon was appointed as the American marque\u2019s team boss once General Motors took on the proposal.<\/p>\n<p>Lowdon, whose previous F1 experience spans a role with the now-defunct Manor side, revealed there is an added challenge to operating a team across two countries.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen it\u2019s a multi-site like this, that becomes a massive challenge,\u201d he told Autosport.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd what you can\u2019t have is an engineer here having to go up and down a particular hierarchy and then hop across, in our instance, not just a different geographic location, but a different country altogether, and then go up and down.
