A Calgary public library was evacuated for several hours on Wednesday as police investigated a suspicious package.
Emergency crews were called to the Judith Umbach Library near Centre Street North and 64 Avenue around 1:05 p.m. for reports of a package found inside the building.
Officers arrived and determined the package needed further inspection.
The library was evacuated and closed to the public during the investigation.
The CPS Tactical Unit determined the package was not dangerous and the library was given permission to reopen around 9 p.m.
Calgary police spent the day Wednesday investigating another suspicious package at an industrial area in the city’s southwest. Investigators confirm the two incidents are not connected.
