Some Midcontinent Communications customers in Mandan lost internet, cable TV and phone services for several hours on Wednesday due to a cut cable.
Around 8:20 a.m., Midco‘s Network Operations Center identified the outage and notified customers about 10 minutes later, according to Midco spokesperson Paige Pearson Meyer. The outage, caused by broken fiber optic cable, impacted over 9,270 customers in Mandan, stretching from east of downtown to along Memorial Highway. Services were restored Wednesday afternoon.
Meyer said the broken line was at Memorial Highway and 40th Avenue Southeast, where crews are working on a major roadway reconstruction project in the area known as The Strip.Â
