Firefighters in Saskatoon retrieved an empty vehicle from the South Saskatchewan River on Thursday morning.

According to the fire department, a call came in reporting a vehicle in the river near the Broadway Bridge just before 8:30 a.m., and the fire department’s water rescue team was dispatched.

“Upon arrival, the water rescue team located the vehicle and checked for occupants. The water rescue team confirmed the vehicle was empty,” the fire department said in a statement.

Firefighters connected the vehicle to a tow truck, which pulled it out of the river at around 10:30 a.m.

“The scene was turned over to the Saskatoon Police Service for further investigation,” the fire department noted.
