Warning: major spoilers ahead for My Life With the Walter Boys season 2.

Whew, what a season! My Life With the Walter Boys season 2 came in hot on Netflix on August 28, with a new 10-episode installment of the soapy teen drama starring Nikki Rodriguez, Ashby Gentry, and Noah LaLonde.

Much happened in Silver Falls, Colorado, in between seasons 1 and 2. Everyone seemingly had a big glow-up summer: Jackie Howard fled to New York City and was accompanied by Danny Walter (who was there for a Juilliard program). Meanwhile, Cole Walter put his head in the books at Silver Falls summer school, and Alex spent his summer in Montana at cowboy camp, with the muscles to show for it.

“*Our* Life With the Walter Boys.”

But by episode 10, there’s more blow-ups than glow-ups, and these cliffhangers are going to keep us up at night while we desperately wait for season 3. We caught up with Nikki Rodriguez, Ashby Gentry, and Noah LaLonde in between filming the upcoming new season (!!!) to weigh in on all the drama of the My Life With the Walter Boys season 2 ending and unpack what’s on the horizon for their beloved characters.

When asked if he has any words for the fans, LaLonde gets earnest: “We love you guys,” he tells Teen Vogue. “It’s been so much fun to be on this ride with them and without [the fans], none of this gets to happen. Rest assured that we’re going to do everything in our power to keep extending the world of the Walter boys.”

Below, get some more answers on the biggest questions My Life With the Walter Boys season 2 has left us with and hear from Rodriguez, Gentry, and LaLonde themselves about where My Life With the Walter Boys season 3 might go next.

The My Life With the Walter Boys season 2 finale is a wild episode for the gang, with Cole’s first big football game substituting as lead coach, Alex’s bronc-riding tryouts, and Jackie’s preparation for Silver Falls’ annual winter festival all happening at once. There’s wins all around: Cole proves that he can lead the team to hard-earned wins by himself, Alex makes the bronc team and lands the sponsorship he’s been working toward all season long, and Jackie wins the Young Sparkler Award, emphasizing her positive impact on the Silver Falls community in just a short amount of time.

But by the final minutes of the tenth episode, all that joy is forgotten as hidden feelings finally expose themselves. Jackie finds herself torn between Alex and Cole yet again, just seconds after confessing her true feelings to the older Walter boy; and before they can really tackle their messy love triangle, they’re interrupted by Will returning to the ranch with a motorcade of ambulances — there’s something wrong with their dad George Walter.

After Cole finally tells Jackie he loves her, Jackie returns his “I love you” in a way that feels almost immediate — a direct contrast to her reaction to Alex’s first (and second!) I-love-yous. Why was it so easy for Jackie to tell Cole she loved him, and not Alex?

“I don’t think it was easy for her to say it to Cole. With Alex, she thought about it, she was able to sort through her emotions and she chooses to go find him and tell him that,” Rodriguez explains. “With Cole, it’s very spur of the moment. She’s just dealing with everything in the moment. I think a part of her doesn’t want to say that because she doesn’t want to hurt anybody. So I don’t think it was easy at all, I think it was actually quite difficult.”

There are a handful of new faces.

And even though she says those special three words, Jackie explains why she’s terrified to be with Cole, claiming that he makes her “lose control” and that’s she unsure of what might happen if she let herself feel that kind of freedom.

“I just think that Cole brings out the side of Jackie that is carefree — and so much of Jackie’s life is out of control and she can’t control any of it,” Rodriguez says. “And so she needs to feel like she is put together and has control because that’s important to her. The way that Cole makes Jackie feel scares her a little bit. I don’t know that she knows that she’s ready for it.”

Are Alex and Cole going to fight even harder over Jackie now that they know she loves them both?DAVID BROWN/NETFLIX

While it seems like this could be the final straw for Alex, who has now spent two seasons trying to make a relationship work with Jackie, Ashby Gentry isn’t so sure his character would go down without a fight.

“It’s tough to say with Alex because he doesn’t give up easily, and so I don’t really see him quitting,” says Gentry. “But the audience member in me doesn’t really see how he could go on. I don’t really know what he’s going to do, and I don’t think he really knows what he’s going to do in that moment. In a way, it’s kind of fortunate that they’re interrupted by everything that happens because I don’t quite know how he would handle that on impulse.”

It’s also unclear how the new version of Cole Walter will handle this truth bomb, as his ending scene with Jackie is the most emotionally brave we’ve ever seen him.

“I think it’s [been] building throughout the entire season, and it’s probably the thing that I’m most proud of him for because there’s been a lot of talk about his journey and the way in which he guards himself from the reality of his situation,” says LaLonde.

“The first season, there’s a lot of denial about the fact that there is inevitably a tomorrow: whether you lose your football career, whether the rehab didn’t go how you wanted, whether your grades are tanked, you still gotta go to school tomorrow, you still gotta do something after high school,” he continues. “I think his recognition of that and getting his grades back in line, at least trying out the football thing, you see tangible growth in that. It shows that he is progressing as a human being. And I think the longer you leave a feeling untouched inside of you, the more it grows — it was only a matter of time before he realized that he couldn’t continue to act without saying anything.”

Is Alex going to date Blake in season 3?COURTESY OF NETFLIX

With Alex making the bronc-riding team, his relationship with Blake will be transforming from a coach to peer dynamic — something to keep in mind after Blake warned him of the dangers of dating people (aka Jackie) who exist outside of “their world.” Now, after learning that Jackie loves Cole, Alex has a decision to make.

“I certainly think that door is not closed all the way,” Gentry says of Alex and Blake’s future. “Who knows? In response to Jackie and Cole he could revert back to someone [like Blake] who clearly cares about him, or he could find someone new. I think if there’s anything that’s made clear about him in season 2, it’s that there’s options.” (This might just be the start of Playboy Alex era!)

What about Danny and Erin?

Danny and Erin end up rekindling their romance with some beautifully-written communication and growth on both sides. It’s important to note, however, that Danny only takes the leap to fight for his relationship with Erin after some advice from… *checks notes* Cole Walter.

At the winter festival, Cole tells Danny: “Don’t let her go just because you didn’t try.” This piece of advice could be based on his own experiences with his ex Erin, but they feel more aligned with how he feels about Jackie — and Noah LaLonde agrees.

“I think it [has so] much to do about the current feelings,” LaLonde says. “There’s kind of this interesting little dialogue between Cole and Danny in this season, where Danny will make a reference to coaching and it’ll very much feel like it’s about Jackie, almost overtly so. I think that what you see ultimately come out at the end of episode 10 is indicative of what is being bounced around in his brain, which is like, ‘I need to do this, too.’ But it is complicated, so it takes a little bit of pushing from Jackie to drag it out of him, but not much because it’s in there. Yeah, he’s [definitely] talking about Jackie.”

What about Kiley and Dylan?COURTESY OF NETFLIX

Whew, so much went down at that winter festival, including the unintentional hard launch of a blossoming relationship between Alex’s former best friend Kiley and Cole’s best friend Dylan. And based on his facial expression when it happened, Alex has some… feelings about Kiley and Dylan getting together.

“Dylan is also an extension of Cole. Dylan is Cole’s best friend, so I’m sure [Alex is] not super jazzed about them being together,” Gentry confirms. “On top of that, [Dylan] kind of represents everything that Kiley goes against, and maybe there’s some lingering feelings there that he’s not aware of. I think that also could be part of it.”

Finally, the biggest question: will Mr. Walter survive his heart attack?COURTESY OF NETFLIX

COURTESY OF NETFLIX

This one’s a big TBD. The major season 2 cliffhanger is that Mr. Walter has ostensibly passed out on the ranch while tending to his new vineyard grounds — we see breadcrumbs of the patriarch’s worsening condition throughout the season with the amount of stress he’s taking on with the ranch development, as well as a moment of him experiencing chest pains at his anniversary dinner in a previous episode. Whatever happens with Mr. Walter is going to have serious impact on each of the characters in the show, especially the main trio and our heroine, who has already tragically lost both parents.

“One, it [will] certainly delay the conversation that they need to have,” Gentry jokes. “Everything is already so intense, so I’m not sure,” Rodriguez says. “It’s kind of like, where do you go from here, genuinely?”

“I think it’ll definitely put things in perspective,” LaLonde offers. “Because I think when you live in the bubble that is the love triangle, it’s pretty all-encapsulating. Having somebody who is so important to their lives… to see the person who kind of shepherded them along [in crisis], maybe [someone they] took for granted because they weren’t really around for a lot of the financial troubles, it was a lot of weight on Dad and on Will… There’ll be some added perspective. Hopefully he’s okay.”

What will happen in My Life With the Walter Boys season 3? When does it come out?COURTESY OF NETFLIX

My Life With the Walter Boys season 3 has already begun filming! According to Netflix, the third season of the show will premiere sometime in 2026. We can expect to get answers about what will happen to Mr. Walter, more development on the ranch’s new vineyard project, Will and Hayley’s potential move, college applications and admissions season for the Walters, a potential student council presidential run from Jackie, and more wing-spreading from Alex and Cole as they pursue their passions. And, of course, hopefully more details on who Jackie is going to pick.

Gentry, LaLonde, and Rodriguez feel “really, really good” about being back on set already, and are beyond excited to share another season with fans.

“It’s been like the best first couple of weeks back,” Gentry says. “I’m kind of relieved to leave season 2 and focus on season 3 now.”

“Agreed, it’s been awesome [being back on set],” says Rodriguez.

“I think it’s going to be really great in a way that I don’t think people will expect, but I think [they] will be really, really happy about,” says LaLonde with the ultimate teaser.
