Floyd Mayweather has had his fair share of boxing call outs over the past few years.
Mayweather is widely regarded as one of the greatest boxers of all time, winning world titles in five weight classes and defeating fellow greats such as Manny Pacquiao, Oscar De La Hoya and Canelo Alvarez throughout his illustrious career.
He hung up the gloves back in 2017 with a perfect undefeated record of 50-0, but since then has been linked to a number of fights as potential opponents have tried to tempt him out of retirement.
Mayweather’s latest rivalry has been with another boxing legend in Roy Jones Jr, with the pair going back and forth on social media with jabs towards one another in recent months.
Jones himself has been retired for several years, after a stellar career which saw him claim world honours at middleweight, super-middleweight, light heavyweight and even heavyweight.
Over the past few weeks Jones has called out Mayweather, but has now cleared up those comments in an interview with Andre Ward on All The Smoke Fight, stating that he doesn’t think it would be ‘fair’ to take on a much smaller man.
“People say ‘would you fight Mayweather.’ I’m not chasing Mayweather, that’s not my thing. If you go through things that I think are deemed as disrespectful thinking I won’t fight you, if you want to fight of course I’ll fight, but he’s small.
“I’m not looking to fight him, for me that’s not even fair. I wouldn’t feel good if I beat you up because you’re a lighter weight class. I’m old but you’re too light.”
While Jones may no longer have a desire for the bout, that hasn’t stopped a current active world champion from calling out Mayweather for a fight himself.
