Darren Till and Luke Rockhold clearly can’t wait to punch each other in the face.
The former UFC stars are set to meet in the Misfits Boxing 22 main event but on Friday they hit the scales for the official weigh-ins where both fighters made the bridgerweight limit for their title bout. But stepping on the scale was far from the most interesting thing at this event because Till was so fired up, he nearly threw down with Rockhold before they could even go through the customary faceoff.
Till lunged at Rockhold with security doing everything possible to keep them separated as the one-time UFC title challenger continued shouting at his opponent from across the stage.
“I’m going to f*cking kill you!” Till screamed at Rockhold.
Rockhold fired right back at him and promised he would deliver a finish when he faces Till on Saturday.
“I’m going to put you down like a f*cking dog,” Rockhold said. “You ain’t got it, Darren. I’m going to treat you like a f*cking boy. I’m putting Darren down like a f*cking dog. Like I said, I’m done. I’m putting him down.”
Till eventually exited the stage through the crowd and didn’t say anything else outside yelling a few more expletives along the way.
In the co-main event, former interim UFC champion Tony Ferguson and his opponent Salt Papi were more respectful towards each other than any other fight on the entire card. Ferguson was all business for his first weigh-in after leaving the UFC while Salt Papi, who is giving up quite a bit of height and reach in the fight, was smiling but effectively silent during a brief faceoff.
Dillon Danis also made weight for his title fight against Warren Spencer but that matchup wasn’t the only thing on his mind.
Earlier on Friday prior to the official weigh-ins, Danis got involved in some kind of altercation with Rockhold following a back-and-forth war of words between them during the pre-fight press conference.
While no video of the incident has surfaced yet, Danis took a victory lap publicly when addressing his prediction for the fight against Spencer.
“I already knocked out Luke Rockhold today,” Danis claimed. “He’s a UFC former champion. That was easy so I’ll knock out ‘The Mechanic’ tomorrow and then I’ll fight KSI. I’m just taking everybody out.”
Misfits Boxing 22 goes down Saturday from Manchester, England with the event airing live on DAZN.
