Following the two major trades accepted by Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens, we have some new information.

We mentioned one earlier this week, and it’s a pretty major development involving Kyrou and Bolduc:

But now we’ve also learned something important regarding the Noah Dobson acquisition. The Islanders only agreed to the trade to also acquire the 23-year-old Montreal Canadiens forward Emil Heineman

Contrary to what some might think, Heineman was not just a “minor” addition in the Noah Dobson trade.

The Islanders love him and absolutely wanted him included in the deal.

Essentially, if Kent Hughes hadn’t agreed to include Emil Heineman, Noah Dobson would not be a member of the Montreal Canadiens today. Wow.

Elliotte Friedman: “Dobson wanted to go to Montreal, but I heard the Islanders really wanted Emil Heineman; the Islanders had that “identity line”, they felt Heineman could bring them a little bit of that.”

So, the Islanders truly wanted to acquire Emil Heineman.

We wish him all the best over there. He finished with 18 points in 62 games-including 10 goals-for the Montreal Canadiens.

He also added 38 points in 59 games with the Laval Rocket in the AHL.
