Well…..Shane Bieber looked excellent. He gave up a solo homer to start the sixth. Then a single and a fly out, and he was out of the game. In all 5.1 innings,, five hits, two earned (that single in the sixth came around to score, no walks and six strikeouts.

Unfortunately, the bullpen had a rough go, again.

The relievers are going to have to figure things out soon.

Freddy Peralta was terrific, just one hit and one walk allowed in six innings, with eight strikeouts.

We got a couple of runs off Aaron Ashby in the seventh, but that was it for scoring.

In all we had four hits, two for Bo Bichette, one each for Alejandro Kirk and Davis Schneider.

The worst moment of the game. Daulton Varsho took a pitch off the hand. It looked like it hurt a look. No word yet on whether anything is broken.

Edit: they are saying X-rays are negative. I’m trying not to focus on the knowledge that they said that about Clement.

Jay of the Day: Bieber (.111).

Other Award: Varland (-.167), Little (-.114),. No one on the offense got the number, Lukes had the low mark at -.088, for an 0 for 4, 1 k.

But the Jays are back at it tomorrow at 3:00 Eastern. Kevin Gausman (8-10, 3.87) vs. Quinn Priester (11-2, 3.44).
