Dillon Danis has returned to action in an MMA ring with a quick-fire win over Warren Spencer in Manchester tonight.
The renowned BJJ black belt hadn’t competed in his sport of choice since 2019, when he was a prospect under the Bellator banner. He had boxed once in a farcical loss to Logan Paul two years ago, but got back into his comfort zone tonight against Andrew Tate teammate Spencer.
Danis is a polarizing figure in the worlds of MMA and Misfits Boxing, but was allowed the chance to show off his elite grappling skills against a white belt in his return to action.
Dillon Danis vs Warren Spencer result
Dillon Danis didn’t waste any time heading to the ring as he sprinted through an uncharacteristically quick entrance, free of any frills. Cornered by former Bellator title contender Peter Queally, Danis looked keen to get straight in for his MMA return.
Spencer landed a shot early, but bizarrely decided to go for a clinch, which allowed Danis to take him down, land some ground and pound and immediately score his first win in six years. The pair immediately embraced after the fact.
Eddie Hall then entered the ring for a face-off.
Dillon Danis has high hopes for UFC future
Danis seems to believe that activity is the key to his making it to the big leagues after tonight’s comeback. He claims to have spoken to UFC Chief Business Officer Hunter Campbell, who has taken over many of Dana White’s responsibilities in recent years.
“Hunter just wants me to stay active,” Danis told Bloody Elbow ahead of tonight’s event. “He was like ‘you get a couple of fights in, we got you’. He wants to see me active because it has been six years. He knows I’d run through all those guys in the top 15.
“So he said ‘if you come in and you’re 2-0 it might look bad for the company’. They were like ‘get a couple wins so when you come in and smash Kevin Holland and all these bums make sure you’re not 2-0’.
“I run through all of them and it would make the company look bad. Last time I talked to Hunter was about three months ago, maybe. I can’t remember because I get hit in the head too much. Sean Shelby and Hunter keep an eye on everything.”
