The General Assembly of the Arab Cycling Federation was held on Saturday in Sharjah, UAE.

The meeting was attended by Major General Ahmed Nasser Mustafa, the appointed head of the Arab Sports Federations Union, Engineer Abdulaziz bin Saud Al Thani, President of the Qatar Cycling and Triathlon Federation, and representatives from 14 Arab cycling federations.

The meeting, which marks a qualitative leap in the federation’s journey, witnessed a democratic electoral process to form a new leadership. This process yielded significant results that reflect the confidence and shared vision for developing cycling sports across the Arab world.

The results culminated in the election of Dr. Yasser Al Doukhi as President of the Arab Cycling Federation. The General Assembly placed its trust in him to lead the upcoming phase, based on his ambitious vision and extensive experience in the sports and administrative fields.

In a historic outcome, Mrs. Fatima bint Issa Al Ghanim, representative of the Qatar Cycling and Triathlon Federation, was unanimously elected by all attending members as Vice President of the Board of Directors, receiving their full confidence. This achievement represents a qualitative addition and support for the pioneering role of women in Arab sports leadership and also reflects the esteemed status of the Qatar Cycling and Triathlon Federation.

Jamal Abdulatif Al Kuwari was elected to the Board of Directors of the Arab Cycling Federation. Together with his fellow board members, they represent a blend of expertise and capabilities that will contribute to driving development forward.

Dr. Yasser Al Doukhi expressed his gratitude to the General Assembly for their confidence, affirming that his tenure will focus on enhancing cooperation among all member federations, developing new programs to advance cycling in all its disciplines, and elevating the competitive level of Arab cyclists in international forums.

For her part, Mrs. Fatima Al Ghanim stated: “My victory is a trust I deeply value, and it places upon me the responsibility to advance the level of Arab cycling, particularly the women’s sector. I will work side by side with the President and board members to serve our sport and overcome all challenges.”

Jamal Al Kuwari also expressed his appreciation for the confidence placed in him, indicating that his role will focus on developing practical strategic plans to achieve the federation’s ambitious goals.
