Adam Idah’s time at Celtic is drawing to a close, with the striker poised to complete his £7m transfer to Swansea City after a stop-start year in Glasgow after completing the second part of his medical today Celtsarehere understands.

Celtic bought Idah outright from Norwich City last summer in a £9.5m deal following his explosive six-month loan spell, where he played a pivotal role in securing the double under Brendan Rodgers.

His late Scottish Cup Final winner against Rangers cemented his place in the club’s recent history, and his physical, direct style made him an instant fan favourite.

However, the permanent move never truly lived up to its billing. Idah managed to contribute across the season, but he failed to replicate the blistering impact of his initial loan.

The sharpness, confidence, and clutch finishing that defined his first six months in green and white were only seen in flashes, leaving Rodgers and supporters frustrated.

That inconsistency, coupled with Celtic’s desire to refresh their forward line, has paved the way for Idah’s departure.

Swansea have stepped in to offer the Republic of Ireland international a long-term deal, with the clubs agreeing an initial £6m fee rising to over £7m with add-ons.

The move underlines another transfer misstep from the Parkhead boardroom. Just twelve months after committing close to £10m on Idah, Celtic are accepting a loss on a player who was meant to be entering his prime years in Glasgow.

The striker himself will relish the chance to restart in the Championship, with Swansea viewing him as a key addition to push for promotion.

For Celtic, the challenge now is replacing Idah effectively in the next 24 hours. We all know the club want to sign Kasper Dolberg but will they finalise a deal for the Danish striker?
