Mitch Marner has brought out plenty of emotions in the Maple Leafs fanbase recently, and now his former security guard has gone on a major rant defending him.

After departing the Toronto Maple Leafs, Mitch Marner knew he was going to take plenty of hatred from their fans, especially when the Vegas Golden Knights visit Toronto in January of 2026.

However, he threw gasoline on the fire in a recent interview with TSN where he called out Maple Leafs fans for finding his address and threatening him, as he revealed that he needed around the clock security after their Stanley Cup Playoffs defeat.

Rant Targets Fan Criticism While Defending Marner’s Character

While few have stuck up for him, Marner’s ex-security guard has done just that, going on an unhinged rant on social media about what a great person Marner is, defending him to those fans for calling out his character.

It’s unclear exactly what was said to elicit this reaction, but it’s clear he feels very strong about what a great person Marner is behind the scenes, as he put it out there on social media for the whole world to see.

Incident Raises Questions About Marner’s Former Security Team

This has many questioning if an emotional rant like this is the type of reaction you want from someone working security, with many now wondering what type of security Marner actually hired throughout his time in Toronto.

Ultimately, many fans in Toronto believe Marner is exaggerating here to play the victim, and while some have taken it a bit too far in calling him out, the hatred will stay for a long, long time, and even with people like this standing up for him, Marner has a very loud welcoming party waiting for him to return with Vegas this season.
