The Marcus Jewish Community Center of Atlanta has released its full lineup for this year’s book festival.
The 34th Edition of the Book Festival of the MJCAA features a mix of political leaders, journalists, historians, chefs, and novelists who will not only share their latest works but also weigh in on today’s cultural and political climate.
Sen. Chuck Schumer, Dr. Sanjay Gupta, John Grisham, Christine Brennan, Alton Brown, and former Ohio Gov. John Kasich are among the headline names. Tickets go on sale Sept. 10.
Highlights
Festival Prologue, Oct. 11 – Eli Sharabi, survivor of 491 days in Hamas captivity, will discuss his memoir, “Hostage,” recounting his abduction during the Oct. 7, 2023, attacks.
Opening Night, Oct. 22 – John Grisham kicks off the festival with his new legal thriller, “The Widow.”
Closing Night, Nov. 16 – CNN’s Dr. Sanjay Gupta presents his new book, “It Doesn’t Have to Hurt: Your Smart Guide to a Pain-Free Life.”

Daniel Kehlmann, Nov. 4 – “The Director,” a novel on art, propaganda, and complicity under Nazi Germany.
Sarah Hurwitz, Nov. 5 – “As a Jew,”a personal reflection on reclaiming Jewish identity in an age of antisemitism.
Dorie Greenspan, Nov. 7 – “Dorie’s Anytime Cakes,” The James Beard Award-winning author presents a collection of simple and memorable desserts.
Yossi Cohen, Nov. 8 – “The Sword of Freedom,” the former Mossad chief provides insight on Israel’s defense strategies and the inside story of the Abraham Accords.
Rabbi Angela Buchdahl, Nov. 9 – “The Heart of a Stranger,” a memoir of faith, identity, and belonging from the first Asian American rabbi.
Alton Brown, Nov. 10 – “Food for Thought,” an essay collection blending food, culture, and behind-the-scenes stories.
Georgia Hunter, Nov. 12 – “One Good Thing,” a WWII-era story of friendship and survival.
Jake Cohen, Nov. 12 – “Dinner Party Animal,” a playful cookbook on turning everyday meals into celebrations.
Niki Russ Federman & Josh Russ Tupper, Nov. 14 – “Russ & Daughters: 100 Years of Appetizing,” chronicling the legacy of the iconic New York eatery.
