It sparked a lot of chatter on social media today, but there really was a mystery goalie in Brossard this morning with the Montreal Canadiens players.

Some suggested it was David Savard, dressed in Samuel Montembeault‘s gear, but I had a hard time believing it.

In the end, according to witnesses, it really was Savard! Wow!

David Savard Becomes One-Day Goalie for the Montreal Canadiens

We already knew he was excellent at blocking shots, but let’s just say we were more used to seeing him block them with player equipment!

All jokes aside, it was really nice to see him having fun with the Habs players, and it made for a great little moment in Brossard on what was a day off for many!

A great day for our Habs players!

Savard, 34, collected 15 points in 75 games last season, with 36 penalty minutes and a -8 plus/minus rating.

In his NHL career, he recorded 242 points in 870 games (including 54 goals) along with 467 penalty minutes.
