After a successful visit to Jersey last year, sports management agency, Sixteen93, will return this autumn to host their second USA Soccer Scholarship Evening.
The information session will take place on Tuesday 24th September at Springfield Stadium. The event is open to male and female footballers aged 15–19 from across the Channel Islands, along with their parents or guardians.
Last year’s showcase resulted in ten students signing up with Sixteen93. Evan Lees (pictured), who previously played for Jersey Bulls F.C u18’s and Jersey Wanderers F.C. is already playing soccer and studying at Jefferson College in Missouri, with the remaining students expected to go to the USA in 2026–27.
During the evening, attendees will have the opportunity to meet the Sixteen93 team, learn about the scholarship process, gain insight into how the scholarship can help cover tuition, accommodation and expenses, and take part in a practical showcase match.
College sport in the USA is a multi-billion-dollar industry, with universities investing heavily to recruit top international talent. Soccer scholarships provide student-athletes the opportunity to combine higher education with elite-level sport, opening doors to both academic and athletic futures.
Co-Founder’s Kristian Moore-Cowell and Luke Brown shared more about the success of last year’s showcase and the event this year. Kristian said: “The process generally begins 18 months before the university or college programme officially begins, so with one of Jersey’s student-athletes already securing a place in Missouri, we’re looking forward to meeting the next cohort of potential student-athletes.”
Luke added: “Last year’s showcase was an incredible success. The skill and ability of young footballers who came to Jersey was really impressive so this year, we’re excited to see even more young players take their first steps towards a scholarship.”
The evening will begin with arrivals from 17:00. The information session will take place at 17:15 in the top floor meeting room at Springfield Stadium, before moving to the pitch for the football assessment from 19:30. The evening will close with a debrief at 21:30.
