Roy Keane has revealed that he is not convinced by Tottenham Hotspur’s signing of Mohammed Kudus.
The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium club brought in the Ghana international attacker from West Ham United earlier in the summer in a £55 million deal.
Kudus weighed in with two assists to help Spurs secure a 3-0 victory over Burnley on the opening weekend of the campaign, but Keane and Jamie Carragher think he is inconsistent.
“Not convinced, I have to say, not convinced,” Keane told Sky Sports when rating summer transfer deals.
“But it would be nice if he surprised me.”
Kudus was the real deal in his debut Premier League campaign in 2023-24, bagging 18 goals and ten assists for West Ham.
The 25-year-old also finished his debut season as the player with the most successful dribbles (124) in the Premier League.
However, he suffered a dip in form in 2024-25, ending the season with five goals and four assists in 35 appearances.
That did not stop Tottenham from splashing the cash on him, and he will be desperate to prove the detractors wrong.
Spurs have since signed Xavi Simons and Randal Kolo Muani to bolster their attack further, giving manager Thomas Frank plenty of options in the final third.
The Lilywhites have had a decent summer transfer window after strengthening across all departments, and they will now look to challenge strongly across all competitions.
They will face Villarreal, Bodo/Glimt, AS Monaco, Copenhagen, Paris Saint-Germain, Slavia Praha, Borussia Dortmund and Eintracht Frankfurt in the opening phase of the Champions League.
Spurs had a woeful domestic campaign last term, finishing 17th in the Premier League, and Frank will be looking to ensure they finish in the top five and pick up major silverware again this term.
