Guelph’s Reece DiCicco and Elora’s Chris Rathwell are bringing home some hardware from South Korea.
The two local lacrosse prodigies were part of the men’s under 20 lacrosse championship-winning Canadian side.
Canada finished with a 5-1 record, including a 6-5 win in the gold medal game over the United States. It was Canada’s first gold medal at the event, and came after the team lost to the US in round robin play.
DiCicco was named a midfielder on the world team at the end of the tournament.
In a press release on the World Lacrosse website, he was “an integral part of Canada’s defensive efforts with a disruptive high motor.”
DiCicco had two goals, while Rathwell had three goals and seven points.
