Planned to open in late September, Knife n Fork will offer Asian barbecue, hot pot, and volcanic rock grilling
Whether you’re into barbecue, hot pot, or steak – a new Asian fusion restaurant on Great Northern Road will have you covered when it opens in late September.
Knife n Fork will offer a mix of Japanese, Chinese, Korean, and standard Canadian fare in a newly renovated restaurant immediately next to Miss Tea Time.
“This restaurant is something new for the Sault,” said owner Imee Yuen, who also owns the neighbouring bubble tea shop
“This is authentic Asian barbecue.”
Each table is equipped to serve Asian barbecue, with a grill that customers use to fry their orders, as well as hot pot dishes, where customers choose from a variety of soup bases to cook their orders in.
From pork belly to ribeye steak, and beef brisket to chicken breast, customers can choose from a wide variety of thinly sliced meats to put on the grill.
Orders also come with a selection of sides ranging from kimchi, edamame, fries, fried rice, and more.
The hot pot comes with a soup base – including spicy soup, Thai Tom Yum soup, chicken soup, and more – with a variety of noodles and other add-ons.
For those interested in a more traditional steak, customers can also fry steaks to their liking on a volcanic black rock.
“To start a hot pot or barbecue, we need minimum two people or two main dishes they need to order,” Yuen explained.
Some cuts of meat – such as pork belly – come in at just over $20, which also comes with several sides.
“You can fully fill your stomach with $22,” Yuen said.
Work began early this year to prepare Knife n Fork for the public, which required custom tables to be made so they can offer hot pot and Asian barbecue for customers.
The final touches will be put on the restaurant in the coming weeks, with opportunities for walk-in job interviews coming up on Sept. 6 and 7 from 12 – 4 p.m.
