Conception Bay South has declared a local state of emergency, warning the town’s water supply could be completely depleted soon.Â
In a post on its website Tuesday afternoon, the town directed all businesses to close immediately to conserve water, citing water supply concerns at Bay Bulls Big Pond.
The post said the loss of water supply from the Regional Water Authority only affects Conception Bay South.
The town has also placed residents under a mandatory water conservation order, requiring them to limit water use to emergency needs only.
The town said it is monitoring the situation and will provide updates as they become available.
