Los Angeles Clippers point guard Chris Paul will enter his 21st season in the league. Once again, he will run things in Los Angeles, just as he did in the prime of his career for the same team over 10 years ago.

Paul may not be the same player he was in his prime, but there is no doubt that he has left an impact on the game.

The 40-year-old is on his way to Springfield when it is all said and done, and many could agree that he has established himself as one of the best point guards of all time.

Many have Paul inside the top five when it comes to the point guard position, but former NBA All-Star center DeMarcus Cousins, a one-time Clippers big man himself, is not one of those people.

Cousins was clear in his point, stating that he doesn’t believe Paul is a top-five point guard of all time.

“My question to you guys is, can we get a top-five all-time PGs list? Chris Paul shouldn’t be on that list. Every time I hear a top-five PGs list, Chris Paul is in it, and I’m not really understanding why,” said Cousins.

The four-time All-Star didn’t stop there. He added that players like Steve Nash, Russell Westbrook, and John Stockton should receive the top-five love that Paul does.

“No knock to CP. Strictly from an accolade and a performance standpoint, I don’t think Chris Paul is top-five. We gotta bring up Steve Nash. We gotta bring up John Stockton. Then we gotta bring in Westbrook. I mean, he’s an MVP,” Cousins said.

Paul is certainly on his way to the Hall of Fame, with a stacked resume. In his 20-year NBA career, Paul has been named a 12-time All-Star, earned 11 All-NBA nods, received nine All-Defensive nods, was named the 2005-06 Rookie of the Year, and is a member of the NBA‘s 75th Anniversary team.

Cousins’ point, though, is that Paul’s case doesn’t quite stack up against the other three — Westbrook and Nash both have MVPs, while Stockton sits at No. 1 all-time in both assists and steals.

While Paul’s career has been an incredible one, his resume lacks in terms of individual awards or accolades.

Still, the former Wake Forest Demon Deacon has made his mark on the game and will do his part to lead the Clippers this upcoming season.
