Channing Tatum Rare Comments About Jenna Dewan
Of course, you know that Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan were married for a decade before splitting in 2019 — and you also know that the pair share a child, Everly.
2019 was practically a lifetime ago. To wit: So much time has elapsed that Channing has been engaged in the time since — to Zoë Kravitz, specifically. (They broke up last October, unfortunately.)
So it was a little surprising that his split with Jenna came up in a recent interview with Variety while Channing was promoting his forthcoming film Roofman.
In the film, Channing plays a dramatized version of real-life fugitive Jeffrey Manchester, who is also estranged from his daughter while running from the law.
While Channing himself is obviously not a fugitive, in the interview he admitted that his custody arrangement with Jenna helped him relate to the character. “I know for a fact I’m able to understand it,” he explained. “Jenna and I are good now, but it was a painful break to have that fall apart, especially being so young. We tried to keep it together, tried for a year and a half, but we knew it was …”
The interviewer notes in the piece that, at that point, Channing stopped himself from continuing his thought before speaking again. “Not to go into all that. It’s in the past. But it’s really tough not to have your daughter half the time. I wish I could just have her all the time.”
