WNBA star Kelsey Plum is taking heat on social media for a “classless” move.
The WNBA’s top players all wore “Pay Us What You Owe Us” shirts while warming up for the All-Star Game in Indianapolis on Saturday night. The league is currently negotiating a new collective bargaining agreement with its players. Currently, the league’s highest paid player is on a three-year deal worth about $700,000 total. Every team in the league is operating with a salary cap of about $1.5 million.

Players, understandably, want salaries to go up in a big way.
WNBPA president Nneka Ogwumike spoke out following the T-shirts decision.
“We see the growth of the league, and as it stands, the current salary system is not really paying us what we’re owed,” Ogwumike said of the shirt’s slogan. “And we want to be able to have that fair share moving forward, especially as we see all of the investment going in, and we want to be able to have our salaries reflected in a structure that makes sense for us.”

While every player in the game wore the shirts, WNBA star Kelsey Plum decided to publicly reveal that when the decision to wear the shirts was made, no one from Caitlin Clark’s team was in the room.
“It was a very powerful moment. As players, we didn’t know that that was going to happen. It was a genuine surprise. The t shirt was determined this morning. Not to tattletale: Zero members of Team Clark were very present for that,” she said.

Some believe that it was unnecessary for Plum to mention that. Clearly, the players were united, as they all wore the shirts.
“What’s her point in bringing that up?” one fan wrote.
“She actually said that lol, you can see Sabrina’s reaction plain as day with what she thought. Then immediately backtracks, tough to watch,” one fan added.
“She’s entering Megan Rapinoe territory on unlikability,” one fan added.
“They absolutely love trying to take away their meal ticket,” one fan added.

Clark, meanwhile, was unable to play in the game due to an injury, but she still wore the shirt.
