OXBOW, N.D. – Lily Vincelli sits in first place after the first round of play of the season at the NDSU Invitational at Oxbow Country Club on Tuesday afternoon.

Vincelli fired a career-low of 68 in the opening round and leads the 25-golfer field by one stroke. The sophomore recorded an eagle on the third hole along with four birdies to sit at -4 going into the second round.

Norah Roberts and Madi Hicks finished just behind Vincelli and round out the top three slots of the tournament. Roberts ended round one with a 69, carding four birdies on the back nine to finish -3 on the day in second place. Hicks notched four birdies on the front nine and finished in a tie for third at 71 (-1).

Hannah Dunk, Cora Larson, and Avery Bartels all finished within the top 10 following the opening round.  Dunk shot a 75 to finish in a tie for eighth at +3. Larson and Bartles are locked in a tie for 10th, each finishing with four birdies on the day to bring them to a score of 76 (+4).

Freshman Jeri Lafleche and freshman Bella Leonhart round out the Bison squad. Lafleche recorded a 78 on the day to finish in a tie for 15th place at +6. Leonhart notched an 85 (+13) to finish in 22nd overall.

As a team, the Bison shot 283 (-5) in round one to lead the three-team tournament by 11 strokes. South Dakota claimed the second spot after day one with a score of 294 (+6). North Dakota sits in third with a score of 299 (+11) for the round.
