Bryson DeChambeau has been quite simply superb during his last three rounds of The Open Championship.

DeChambeau got off to a horror start at The Open, carding a seven-over par 78 on day one.

However, the 31-year-old American bounced back admirably, with rounds of 65, 68 and 64.

Earlier this week, DeChambeau suggested he’s developing a new ball to help him at The Open.

The LIV golfer has notoriously struggled with flighting his ball down below the wind.

And that was a real issue for him on day one at Royal Portrush.

That said, he has proven over the past three days that he is more than capable of contending in Open Championships.

The two-time US Open champion showed his class after his first round 78 at Portrush.

He fought back incredibly hard, and will ended up finishing inside the top-10 – an immense effort considering how his week began.

After his final round, DeChambeau was asked whether he believes his last three rounds at The Open will end up being a turning point for his career.

He said: “Yeah, look, it was fair conditions the past few days. I always told you guys I like it when it’s fair conditions. I can play well. I still have to crack the code when it’s raining and windy. But I feel like we’re getting close to some opportunities and solutions for that. It just takes a long time to develop stuff, I’m starting to learn.

“It was a fun three days. I was really proud of the way I turned it around and gave myself actually some hope on the third round, after I was 3-under. That first nine I thought, okay, if I go shoot 4- or 5-under on the back and give myself a chance on Sunday, throw myself up there and go out and play just as good as I did, like I did today, I could be right up there and giving Scottie a run.

“Scottie’s in a league of his own right now. I played with him a lot in college, and he was not that good, so he’s figured out a lot of stuff since then. It’s really impressive to see and something we can all learn from for sure.“

The challenge now for DeChambeau will be to put four good rounds together at an Open Championship at some point in the future.

He certainly has the ability to do that, and his performance over the last three days at Portrush will give him great confidence.
