Two hikers have been found dead in southeastern British Columbia and a third remains missing but presumed deceased, according to RCMP.
Kimberley RCMP were called to Meachen Creek Falls near the border of B.C. and Alberta on Monday by a GPS SOS saying that three people had gone over the falls.
When they arrived, they located a deceased 68-year-old woman half way down the falls, but the two other hikers remained missing.
On Wednesday, RCMP said a second hiker, a 35-year-old woman, had been found dead and efforts were underway to recover her body.
The third hiker, a 35-year-old man, remained missing as of Wednesday afternoon but was presumed dead, according to RCMP.
Efforts were still underway to locate his body, Mounties say.
“The investigation is ongoing although none of the deaths are believed to be suspicious,” said Kimberely RCMP in a statement Wednesday.
“Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the deceased.”
