An insider has given a big update recently regarding the availability of Vancouver Canucks forward Teddy Blueger on the National Hockey League’s trade market.Excitement is building among the team’s fan base, who are hoping for a better outcome this season than last and with a busy summer under his belt, acquiring Evander Kane, signing Vitali Kravtsov and re-signing Brock Boeser, Patrik Allvin certainly believes that he has the right pieces in place to make a push for the Stanley Cup Playoffs.Throughout the summer, a number of Vancouver Canucks players dealt with their names being in the rumor mill, including Latvian forward Teddy Blueger and this week, an insider has given an update regarding his availability on the trade market ahead of the 2025-26 season.
Insider gives update on Teddy Blueger’s availability on NHL’s trade market
In a recent article for The Athletic, Thomas Drance did a player-by-player breakdown for his projected Vancouver Canucks opening night roster and when it comes to Teddy Blueger, who is more than likely going to slot in in the 4C hole, it looks like he will be sticking around with the club.
According to Drance, the Vancouver Canucks pulled Teddy Blueger off the trade block earlier this summer after they completed a deal that sent forward Dakota Joshua to the Toronto Maple Leafs.
“The Canucks explored their options on the trade market this summer with centre Blueger, but pulled him back off the block after the Dakota Joshua trade. A solid fourth-line centre option and penalty killing ace, Blueger will have a safe, locked-down role with the team, provided he remains with the organization, which now seems likely.” Drance said.
Blueger, 31, has a pretty good second year as a Vancouver Canuck, especially when considering his reduced role in the bottom-six, registering 26 points (eight goals, 18 assists) in 82 games.
With the added stress of being on the trade block now behind him, Blueger is hoping to make a mark in a contract year, with the Riga native set to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1st, 2026.
Given the logjam that the Canucks already have in the bottom-six, it’s hard to see Blueger remaining in Vancouver beyond the 2025-26 campaign, but never say never.
