OTTAWA, Sept 5 (Reuters) – Canada will announce on Friday that it is waiving a requirement that 20% of all vehicles sold next year be emissions-free, a source directly familiar with the matter said.

The source requested anonymity since they were not authorised to speak to the media. In 2023, Ottawa said zero emissions vehicles had to make up at least 20% of all cars sold by 2026.
