Toronto police says a 24-year-old woman has died after being struck by a vehicle in Scarborough on Friday afternoon.

Emergency crews were called to Steeles Avenue East and Midland Avenue around 5p.m., for reports of a person struck by a vehicle. Paramedics attempted to perform lifesaving measures but the woman was pronounced dead on the scene.

The 59-year-old male driver of the vehicle remained at the scene.

“This is an incredibly heartbreaking incident and our thoughts are with the family at this difficult time,” said Duty Insp. Errol Watson to reporters on Friday.

Police have not specified if there will be charges pressed against the driver.

Anyone who was in the area between 4:45 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. and has information related to the collision is asked to contact investigators.
