Toronto police give an update on the investigation into the death of a 24-year-old woman who was struck by a vehicle in Scarborough on Friday.

A 24-year-old woman is dead after being struck by a vehicle in Scarborough on Friday afternoon.

Emergency crews were called to the intersection of Steeles Avenue East and Midland Avenue at around 5 p.m. for a collision.

“Emergency personnel arrived on scene and began life-saving measures. Unfortunately, the 24-year-old female pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene,” Duty Insp. Errol Watson told reporters.

He said the driver, a 59-year-old man, remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.

“This is an incredibly heartbreaking incident, and our thoughts are with the family at this difficult time,” Watson said.

“Our traffic services unit is working to gather all the facts, and we ask your patience as we continue our investigation.”
