Vancouver Canucks Organization Officially Signs Son of Long-Time NHLer to New Contract

The son of a long-time National Hockey League forward has decided to sign with the Vancouver Canucks organization months after winning an NCAA Championship.
It’s been a busy summer at the National Hockey League level for Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin, but also for their AHL and ECHL affiliates in Abbotsford and Kalamazoo, Michigan, respectively.This season will mark the second season of a two-year affiliate agreement between Vancouver and the ECHL’s Kalamazoo Wings, who are hoping for a better outcome this time around after losing in the first round of the Kelly Cup Playoffs back in the spring.Kalamazoo has made some changes this summer as well, both on and off the ice, Assistant Coach Jon Elliott departing the club for an NCAA coaching opportunity and recently, have announced a handful of signings for the 2025-26 season, with one of those player’s dads spending parts of 15 seasons in the National Hockey League.

In a press release on Friday, the Kalamazoo Wings announced the signings of forward Cam Knuble and defenseman Robby Drazner for the 2025-26 season, both of whom are coming off an NCAA championship with Western Michigan University in April.
“The Kalamazoo Wings, proud ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League’s Vancouver Canucks, announced Friday that rookie forward Cam Knuble and rookie defenseman Robby Drazner have signed Standard Player Contracts (SPCs) for the 2025-26 season.” the Wings said.
Knuble, the son of long-time NHLer Mike Knuble, was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, about an hour north of Kalamazoo, and says that he’s looking forward to the opportunity to suit up for the Wings in the coming weeks.
“Kalamazoo is a really special place to me. The city has played a huge role in my life and hockey career. I’m proud to join the Wings and to play in front of the great hockey fans in Kalamazoo.” Knuble said.
The 25-year-old registered 15 points (five goals, ten assists), four penalty minutes and was a plus-14 in 41 games for Western Michigan University and as part of the team’s leadership group, played an integral role in helping his school win their first ever National Championship.
Knuble is set to make his Kalamazoo Wings debut on Saturday, October 18th against the Fort Wayne Comets.
