A 24-year-old woman has died after she was hit by a driver in a Scarborough intersection on Friday evening, Toronto police say.
The collision happened at Steeles Avenue E. and Midland Avenue at about 5 p.m., said police spokesperson Duty Insp. Errol Watson.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver, a 59-year-old man, remained at the scene and is co-operating with police. There’s no word on charges.
“This is an incredibly heartbreaking incident and our thoughts are with the family at this difficult time,” Watson told reporters on Friday night.
The intersection, which was closed as police investigated, has reopened.
