Jannik Sinner will hope to continue his US Open title defence against semifinal opponent Felix Auger-Aliassime.

The world number one, who has torn through his half of the draw so far, booked his place in the final four after defeating fellow Italian Lorenzo Musetti in straight sets.

Now just one win away from a fifth consecutive Grand Slam final, Sinner will have to go through Auger-Aliassime, who he dominated at the Cincinnati Open in August.

Though the Canadian is capable of delivering an upset, it is unlikely he will find an answer for the four-time major champion, who former American player Sam Querrey recently gave high praise to.

Speaking on the ‘Nothing Major’ podcast, Querrey said: “I think Sinner is the best ball striker of all time.

“Even if he stops right now. I think he is the cleanest, best, purest ball striker that the game of tennis has ever seen.

“I am not just trying to say that. I know Andre was unbelievable, but I give that title to Sinner now.

“If he shanks it, it’s like off-centre by a millimetre. It’s not off the frame or anything.”

Jack Sock predicts how Felix Auger-Aliassime will fare against Jannik Sinner

Multiple-time doubles Grand Slam winner Jack Sock said of Sinner‘s clash with Musetti: “I was watching that just in awe.

“It looks like he is hitting the ball as hard as he can on every shot, and it never seems like he is going to miss.

“He is so in control of what he is doing and it looked like Musetti’s quote last night the whole match, it looked like he was under pressure on every point and every shot. Sinner was dictating play on every point. It was really fun to watch.

“I feel bad for Felix in the next match. I think he is going to get chopped up, honestly.

“I think Felix has less of a chance of winning that than Novak does against Carlos. I almost think that Sinner’s level right this second is higher than Carlos’s.”

Despite his heavy defeat to Sinner in Cincinnati, Auger-Aliassime currently leads the head-to-head 2-1.
