SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – The nationally-ranked No. 25 Concordia University Irvine women’s soccer squad debuted on the road to open the 2025 season on Saturday.

The team was amped up to match up with the host Cal State San Bernardino Yotes and racked up 15 shots.  Ashley Grubert put both of her two shot attempts on goal and CUI managed to put seven on target as a group. However, none could find the back of the net.

Senior and reigning Co-PacWest Goalkeeper of the Year Riley Urquiza collected seven saves to anchor the CUI defense.

Unfortunately for the Green and Gold, the Yotes were awarded a penalty kick in the second half and converted to tally the only goal of the entire match.

Six different Golden Eagles made their debut for CUI. This included freshmen Avery Munoz and Kalli Cho and transfers Elle Soleau and Sloane De Torres who were all a part of the Starting XI.

Anjelina Nieto and Ella Cook also saw their first action in a Concordia uniform to help the effort off the bench.

The Golden Eagles are back in action this coming Wednesday, Sept. 10 at 5 p.m. before preparing for their home opener on Saturday, Sept 13 at 6:30 p.m.
