USA Women Deliver Strong Day Three Performances
On day three of the 2025 World Boxing Championships in Liverpool, England, the United States added two victories to its record. Naomi Graham and Jajaira Gonzalez each won their opening bouts, keeping Team USA in contention for medals.
Naomi Graham Dominates the 75 Kilogram Division
Graham entered the ring against Spain’s Dunia Martinez Mas and controlled the fight from the first bell. She used her right hand to land clean punches and moved her head to slip Mas’s attacks. Graham’s body work wore down her opponent, and the judges awarded a unanimous 5‑0 decision. The Tokyo 2020 Olympian now moves to the quarterfinals.
Jajaira Gonzalez Overcomes a Slow Start in the 60 Kilogram Class
Gonzalez faced Slovakia’s Miroslava Jedinakova. After falling behind 4‑1 in the opening round, she increased the pace and unleashed a flurry of punches. Her pressure forced the judges to see the fight in her favor, and she secured a 4‑0 win. The Glendora, California native, a 2024 Paris Olympian, advances to the round of 16.
Other USA Boxers on Day Three
Jennifer Lozano, Carlos Flowers, and Ramon Ordonez also fought on day three. Lozano lost 5‑0 to India’s Nikhat Zareen, a two‑time world champion. Flowers was shut out by Jordan’s Zeyad Eashash, and Ordonez fell to Brazil’s Luiz Gabriel Oliveira. Their defeats end their tournament runs.
Day Four Preview
Team USA will field four athletes on day four. Orlando Zamora (55 kg) will meet Bulgaria’s Javier Ibanez Diaz, a 2024 Olympic bronze medalist. Zamora carries momentum after his first international win earlier in the week.
Robby Gonzales (80 kg) opens his campaign against Cuba’s Jorge Soto Napoles. Gonzales holds a 2021 world title and hopes to add another.
Isabella Winkler (70 kg) makes her international debut versus Turkey’s Sema Caliskan, a two‑time world bronze medalist. Finally, Rene Camacho (65 kg) will fight England’s Patris Mughalzai after earning a narrow 3‑2 win on day one.
