New Labrador Air Program Unfair to Inuit Communities, Says Government

The Nunatsiavut government says the newly minted Labrador Air Access Program falls short for Inuit Communities.

Late last month, the province announced lower fares through PAL Airlines and discounts costing taxpayers $3.5-million through March 2026.

The Labrador-based government says prices from Rigolet are still nearly double what they would be from Happy-Valley Goose Bay or Wabush, and they’re asking why they should have to pay more.

They’re also looking for a breakdown of how many seats would be available for Inuit residents.

Currently, a flight from Rigolet to St. John’s is roughly $1,400.
