Ex-Vancouver Canucks captain Bo Horvat is celebrating more than just a new hockey season this September.

The 30-year-old forward announced on Instagram on Sunday morning that he and his wife, Holly, had welcomed their third child into the world. Horvat revealed that the baby girl arrived safe and sound and that the couple had decided to name her Lainey Lynne Horvat.

This is the couple’s third child after welcoming their first-born baby boy, Gunnar, in 2020 and their second-born baby girl, Tulsa, back in 2022.

Horvat posted a couple of photos of both Gunnar and Tulsa holding their new baby sister, as well as a touching family shot on the hospital bed. It appears that everything went as smoothly as they could have hoped.

The former Canucks captain is entering his third full season with the New York Islanders after having been traded there from Vancouver in 2023. On the island, Horvat has been able to string together a few very good seasons.

He managed to net a career-high 33 goals and 68 points with New York during the 2023-24 season. Horvat followed that up with a 57-point campaign last season, which is his third-highest since entering the league in 2014-15.

The Canucks have been a bit of a rollercoaster since moving on from their former captain. Things went great in the first year without him as Vancouver rolled to a Pacific Division title and made a run to Game 7 of the second round. However, the team failed to replicate that success last season, missing the playoffs by six points.

Horvat, on the other hand, has had two short playoff runs with the Islanders, but did miss the playoffs last season as well.

Though he no longer plays in Vancouver, Canucks fans hold no ill will toward Horvat. They gave him a rousing ovation when he played his first game back in the city in 2023, showing that there is still plenty of love for their old captain.

As he welcomes a new baby girl, Canucks fans are sure to be wishing him and his family all the best.
