The Montreal Canadiens and Nashville Predators were reportedly close to making a deal with one another at the Trade Deadline for an unnamed player, as shown in the 2nd episode of the new season of The Rebuild: Inside the Montreal Canadiens.

Instead, the Predators suffered through an embarrassing year that resulted in them missing the playoffs and being left to face multiple unsolved questions as to why things went so wrong.

Speculation Swirls Over Which Predator Montreal Targeted

It wasn’t made specifically clear which Predators player that general managers Barry Trotz and Kent Hughes discussed, but it’s possible that it could have been any one of the aforementioned names that were sent away from Nashville.

During the 2nd episode of the new season of The Rebuild: Inside the Montreal Canadiens, a discussion between Trotz and Hughes is shown, but the specific player they discussed wasn’t revealed.

The Canadiens returned to the playoffs for the 1st time since their miracle run to the 2021 SCF against the Tampa Bay Lightning, and after their acquisition and signing of defenseman Noah Dobson, appear poised to once again be a playoff team.

The Predators are still trying to figure out what went wrong last year and work to avoid suffering the same fate. If things go badly again for the Predators this year, there could be some monumental changes.

Right now, the Canadiens and Predators are a pair of teams headed in very different directions.
