The Ottawa REDBLACKS are gearing up for a Sunday night clash against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, set to kick off at 7:00 p.m. at the Stadium at TD Place. Ottawa find themselves seeking some payback, following last week’s narrow 23-20 loss in at Hamilton Stadium.

It was a strong defensive effort from the REDBLACKS, holding the red-hot Ti-Cats to just 23 points, but touchdowns from Keelan White and William Stanback left Ottawa just short of a divisional win.

Tonight’s game marks the return of defensive backs Justin Howell and Deandre Lamont, the latter of whom slides in at field corner for the injured CJ Coldon. Lucas Cormier makes his first CFL start at will linebacker, and Parker Moorer gets his second start of the season at right guard.

It’s also a milestone night for two REDBLACKS veterans,as middle linebacker Jovan Santos-Knox and fullback Anthony Gosselin are each set to play in their respective100th CFL games.

SCOUTING THE OPPOSITION

In last week’s meeting, the Ti-Cats leaned on a well-executed passing attack and timely playmaking to edge out a 23-20 win over the REDBLACKS. Bo Levi Mitchell threw for 266 yards, connecting with Kenny Lawler on a pair of touchdown grabs. Defensively, Jamal Peters picked off Brown twice.

Hamilton also didn’t escape last week’s contest without injury, however, losing defensive lineman Isaiah Bagnah for the rematch.

IN THEIR OWN WORDS

BOB DYCE, HEAD COACH, ON THE TEAM’S APPROACH TO HAMILTON:

“Our mindset is we need to win. We’ve done everything to prepare and put ourselves in that position. I know these guys are hungry for a victory. Coaches are hungry for a victory, and that’s our plan.”

LORENZO MAULDIN IV, DEFENSIVE END, ON HOW THE TEAM CAN SNAP THEIR LOSING STREAK:

“We have to realize as a team that we need to finish. We’ve had plenty of close games in the past, and that was definitely one of those times where we didn’t finish and we had to capitalize on it.”

GENO LEWIS, RECEIVER, ON NOT BEING SATISFIED BY RACKING UP STATS:

“You can have all the yards, you can have all the touchdowns, you can have all the individual accolades and all that stuff, but if you lose the game and you’re happy after that, I don’t really respect that, because we still didn’t do enough to win. You’re just worried about the individual part. For me, I just want to keep doing my job, and I want to keep being able to make the plays that I can.”
