Northeast Wisconsin High School Sports Awards honors best of the best
Green Bay Packers defensive standout Rashan Gary featured guest at Northeast Wisconsin High School Sports Awards at Lambeau Field on June 20.
The entire Green Bay Packers roster reports for training camp on Wednesday, July 23, but several won’t be participating.
Among them is Quay Walker.
The Packers‘ fourth-year linebacker will start training camp on the active physically unable to perform list, according to the NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
Wide receiver Christian Watson and rookies Collin Oliver (defensive lineman) and Micah Robinson (cornerback) are joining Walker on the PUP List, according to the NFL’s official communications website.
Watson is expected to miss a large portion of 2025 as he recovers from a torn ACL, an injury he suffered in the Packers’ 2024 regular-season finale against the Chicago Bears Jan. 5 at Lambeau Field. He will likely be placed on injured reserve before the start of the season. That means he’ll then miss a minimum of four games. After a player is cleared from IR, they have 21 days to be activated to the roster.
Meanwhile, three others were put on the non-football injury/illness list. The most high-profile name was offensive lineman Elgton Jenkins, Pelissero reported.
The Packers are starting the season with some players injured.

Walker’s absence might have caught the attention of some. However, there were signs this could be a possibility.
The linebacker did not participate in any of the team’s mandatory minicamp sessions in June. He was in attendance, though, as he worked with the rehab group, PackersNews reported.
Packers head coach said last month that Walker’s injury wasn’t from any offseason program.
“I think there were some residual effects from the season,” he said of the team’s 2022 first-round pick.
Injuries have been a bit of a concern for Walker. After playing in all 17 games as a rookie, he has missed seven games in the last two seasons. In 2023, a knee injury kept him out of three games. And last season he missed the team’s final three games of the regular season with an ankle injury plus one earlier in the year due to a concussion.
Despite the injuries, Walker has still led the Packers in total tackles the last two seasons and is now a veteran of the linebacker room. He has exceeded 100 tackles in each of his first three seasons.

Players on the active PUP list count against the team’s active roster limit. Players on the PUP list can participate in team activities, though they can’t practice.
They can be activated at any point.

Players given this designation have suffered non-football injury/illness outside of football. They can be activated at any time. Once the season begins players on the NFI list don’t count against the 53-man active roster limit.
Jenkins, 29, has not participated in the team’s offseason program as he looks to rework his contract, ESPN previously reported.
The Packers’ former second-round pick is set to move positions from guard to center this year after the signing of Aaron Banks and the loss of Josh Meyers in free agency.
Offensive line coach Adam Stenavich previously told PackersNews.com that he wasn’t concerned about Jenkins’ absence.
“I think he’s open to it,” Stenavich said in May. “The conversations that we’ve had with him, yeah, he’s got a lot of experience there and he was open to it, excited about it. So, ready to go.”
Jenkins, a two-time Pro Bowler, has two years left on his four-year, $68 million contract that he signed in 2022.
