As the Montreal Canadiens look to take the next step in their rebuild, some high-level prospects are gearing up to attend the team’s rookie camp.
The rookie-camp roster consists of 26 players set to undergo on-ice practices before taking on the Winnipeg Jets and Toronto Maple Leafs in prospect showdowns on Sept. 13 and 14, respectively.
The Canadiens selected 15 forwards, eight defencemen and three goaltenders. Though their top selection at the 2025 draft, Russian right-winger Alexander Zharkovsky, won’t be attending, five of the Canadiens’ other selections from June will be on the roster.
The Canadiens, flush with young talent, took strides in their rebuild last season, earning a spot in the post-season after finishing with a 40-31-11 record, good for fifth in the Atlantic Division.
While they lost in five games to the Washington Capitals in the first round, the addition of 19-year-old Demidov to the playoff roster gave the team and fans a sign of what’s to come for the Canadiens. He finished with two assists in five post-season games.
Reinbacher, meanwhile, was the Canadiens’ fifth-overall pick in 2023. The Austrian blue liner missed most of last season with AHL Laval after undergoing knee surgery and finished the year with two goals and three assists in 10 games.
Fowler, the team’s top goaltending prospect, spent most of last season in the NCAA with Boston College, but joined Laval for the end of the regular season and the playoffs. In eight AHL post-season games, the 20-year-old had a 2.48 goals-against average and a .902 save percentage.
