Ajax Public Library celebrated the launch of a self-service book vending machine at the Ajax Community Centre on Thursday.
NovelBranch, located near the north entrance, makes it easier for busy families to access library materials on the go.
Residents can easily borrow items using their Ajax Public Library card: simply scan the card to access the NovelBranch, select the materials to borrow, and enjoy. Returning borrowed items is just as easy: just place the items inside.
“We know Ajax families are busy,” said Chief Librarian and Executive Officer Sarah Vaisler. “The library wants to make sure the entire community has access to reading materials, even when they can’t make it into one of our primary branches.”
The initiative was made possible through financial support of the Rotary Club of Ajax and joins the Grandview Kids Express Branch at the new Grandview Centre as another small-scale option to reach Ajax residents.
“Our goal is to bring convenient library services to Ajax, and that means finding creative solutions within existing community spaces,” Vaisler added “We are grateful to the Rotary Club of Ajax for recognizing the value of public library services and supporting the purchase of the vending machine.”
