ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Indiana State forward Alex Lehnert was named the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week following her standout performances against Eastern Illinois and Southeast Missouri State. 

On September 4 at Eastern Illinois, the junior forward played 67 minutes and scored the game-tying goal in the 79th minute to secure a 1-1 draw. She recorded 1 goal on 5 total shots, with 2 shots on goal, and finished with 2 points while posting a 20% shooting percentage and a 40% shots-on-goal rate. 

She followed it up with an electric performance on September 7 against Southeast Missouri State, logging 38 minutes and contributing 1 goal and 2 assists in Indiana State’s 5-0 home win. Lehnert registered 4 shots, including 2 on frame, and totaled 4 points, finishing with a 25% shooting percentage and a 50% shots-on-goal rate. 

The New Lenox, Ill. native now leads Indiana State with six goals and 14 points through eight matches, ranking among the top scorers in the MVC and already matching a career high in multi-goal games this season. 

This is the first MVC Player of the Week honor of Lehnert’s career.
